HEAT STROKE or SUN STROKE: 中暑

I. SUN STROKE
CAUSE:	While walking or exercising outside during the summer, you suddenly faint. **Warning: Never put cold water on the patient to cool him or her. Once the patient is exposed to cold water, there is no cure. The same thing applies to a person who freezes in cold weather. That is, they should never be exposed to hot water.
TREATMENT:	Take a few towels, ropes, or clothes and wet them with warm water or fresh urine. Take the moist materials and surround the patient's navel in the form of a cup. (Stack the material as rings around the navel). You can use warm soil as paste to support the cup. Have a few young boys or male athletes urinate into the cloth cup. The chi (vital energy) will be delivered into the body through the navel and the patient should awake even if they were unconscious before. This method was the most efficient way to cure people who were in the military or undergoing sports training. People must urinate one by one until the patient wakes up. Do not give cold water to the patient before or after the patient gains consciousness. However, chemical hot packs or bags of warm water (60 degrees Celsius or 140 degrees Fahrenheit) can also be placed on the person's navel instead of urine, but they are not as effective as urine. Another method consists of lighting a piece of paper and waving the flames around the nose and mouth area. This should also cause the patient to awake from unconsciousness. II. HEAT STROKE- Usually occurs indoors when there is excessive heat and inadequate ventilation.
Case A:	Heat stroke with gasping and sweating
Case B:	Heat stroke with fainting and heartache
Case C:	Heat stroke with sudden fainting and foaming at the mouth. (The person appears to be crazy) In addition, they have high fevers and purple bruise marks all over their skin (petechia). This case is the hardest to cure and most will die if not given the proper treatment, such as the following:
TREATMENT for Case A:	**Warning: Do not use metal materials to cook the herbs because it will cause the energy from the ginseng to be absorbed by the metal. Buy the following: 人蔘 4兩 Ginseng 150 g 石膏 4兩 Gypsum Fibrosum 150 g 黃漣 3錢 Rhizoma Coptidis 11.25 g 水煎服，1劑神定，2劑汗止。Mix ingredients with 27 oz. of water and boil until 9 oz are left. Drink immediately. You can use the leftover herbs to make a second dose by boiling it in 18 oz. of water until 9 oz. of water remain. The second dose should be taken 10-12 hours after the first dose. The next day, boil a new batch of herbs as stated above, and drink the first dose in the morning and the second dose in the evening.
TREATMENT for Case B:	Take the following: 青嵩 1兩 Herba Artemisiae Annuae (Sweet Wormwood) 黃蓮 3錢 Rhizoma Coptidis 11.25 g 人蔘 3錢 Ginseng 11.25 g 白朮 3錢 Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae 11.25 g 茯神 5錢 (茯苓鬆者) Poria 18.75 g 霍香 5錢 Herba Agastachis 18.75 g 香薷 1錢 ( ) 3.75 g 半夏 1錢 Rhizoma Pinelliae 3.75 g 水煎服，1劑痛止。Mix with 27 oz. of water and boil until 9 oz. remain and drink. Take the leftover herbs and boil it with 18 oz. of water until 9 oz. remain. Drink this second dose 6 hours after the 1st dose.
TREATMENT for Case C:	Because this case is so serious, this treatment must be given immediately!(急用) 玄參 3兩 Radix Scrophulariae 112.5g 麥冬 3兩 Radix phiopogonis 112.5g 天冬 1兩 Radix Asparagi 37.5g 青嵩 1兩 Herba Artemisiae Annuae 37.5g 升麻 3錢 Rhizoma Cimicifugae 11.25g 荊芥 3錢 Herba Schizonepetae 11.25g 黃蓮 3錢 Rhizoma Coptidis 11.25g 黃岑 3錢 Radix Scutellariae 11.25g 水煎服，1劑斑色變淡，3劑後斑色盡褪矣。Add 27 oz. of water and boil over a low fire until 9 oz. remain. Drink this herbal tea. For the second dose, take the leftover herbs and boil it with 18 oz. of water until 9 oz. remain. Take this dose 8-10 hours after the 1st dose. After one dose, the color of the purple blotches (petechia) will lighten. The next day, make this herbal tea with a new batch of herbs as previously stated and drink one dose in the morning and one dose at night.
